This month we have added three new beers to our inventory that we are sure you will love.

Bridalveil Ale - Butterfield Brewing Co. - This beer won a Gold Medal at the 1990 Great American Beer Festival! Yummy!!!

Creekside Wheat - Butte Creek Brewing Co. - A crisp refreshing version of a German hefeweizen. Prost!

Spring Ale - Butte Creek Brewing Co. - Only brewed once each spring. We have a very limited supply that won't last long!

Chico is located about 1½ hours north of Sacramento, in northern CA. It's a cool little college town with a bunch of greenery and home to the well known Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and the not so well known Butte Creek Brewing Co. We actually saw some people wearing cool tie-died Butte Creek T-shirts as we cruised thru town.

Butte Creek is in an expansion stage thanks to their organic line of ales. According to Tom Atmore, one of the owners, they will soon be expanding for their 2nd time in two years, adding a new 80 barrel fermenter increasing their annual capacity from 4,000 to 5,500 barrels.

During our visit to pick up this month's featured beer, we had the opportunity of trying two seasonal brews 'Spring Ale' and 'Summer Ale' which they only brew one batch of each year. These are excellent light beers that should not be missed. We picked up a limited amount of the Spring Ale that is now available on our website - get it while it lasts! The Summer Ale is currently only available on draft in the Chico area.

Gold Ale - A great spring/summer beer that is gently hopped for a smooth finish. It is brewed with a unique blend of Munich malts for its rich golden color.

Organic Ale - They use only certified organically grown hops & barley for this brew. It is unfiltered but remarkably bright because of the care they take during the fermentation process. This stuff really tastes great too!

In 1989, Butterfield Brewing Co. opened its doors as the 1st brew pub in the Fresno area and last year, exactly 10 years from the day they originally opened, they opened their brand new 30,000 sf brewery in downtown!

These guys make some really, I mean really good beer. Their beers have won 5 Gold Medals at the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado-we don't know of many other breweries that can make that claim!

Jeff Wolpert, founder and president of Butterfield's, is a direct descendant of the Butterfield family that owned the Butterfield Stage Coach line which ran from St. Louis to San Francisco in the 1800's - thus the Butterfield name and wagon wheel in their logo!

Tower Dark Porter - This beer won a Gold Medal in 1989 & a Bronze in 1993 at the Great American Beer Festival! Picture yourself as a judge when tasting it and see if you agree. A rich, full-bodied Porter style beer with a very roasty flavor. Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark!
