Welcome! If you are new to brewing your own beer, here is what you can expect with ANY IPA.
India Pale Ales have a moderate to moderately high hop aroma of floral, earthy or fruity scents. A fair amount of caramel-like or toasty-malt aromas are also very common in IPAs.
The color of an IPA will range from a golden amber to a light copper; most IPAs fall in the color range of pale to medium amber with an orange-ish tint; this is a gorgeous colored beer. For the most part, India Pale Ales will be clear, although some unfiltered dry-hopped versions may be a bit hazy. When pouring an India Pale Ale a fairly good head will remain with an off-white color to it.
IPAs are hoppy beers, it’s the nature of the beast! In any IPA you’ll be able to taste the hops and their bitter bite, enjoy. The malt presence in an IPA will show an English character and be somewhat bready, biscuit-like, toasty, and toffee or caramel-like. The finish of an IPA is medium to dry, and the bitterness may linger into an aftertaste that is not too harsh.
A smooth, medium-light to medium-bodied mouthfeel can be expected from an IPA. Some smooth alcohol warming will be felt in some of the bolder versions.
Generally IPAs are hop-driven, moderately strong pale ales that show characteristics of English malt, hops and yeast.
