Oaked Arrogant Bastard from Stone Brewing Company is not your every day plain-jane craft beer. To the first birthday of Arrogant Bastard Ale in 1998, Stone Brewing Company let loose a follow up beer, just as obnoxious and appropriately named, Double Bastard Ale. In 2004 Stone added another member to this arrogant side of their beer family tree, and the newest member became known as Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale.
Oaked Arrogant Bastard is a big, angry beer in the true Bastard sense! Where this brew separates itself from it's other familiy members is with its arrogantly smoothed out flavors imparted by the addition of oak aging. It's a more suave and sophisticated Bastard.
Stone Brewing Company has issued the following warning - Be cautious! Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale does not like being bottled up. It is feeling especially put out about the whole experience, so it is suggested that you either be extraordinarily polite to it (which we’ve been told doesn’t work all that well...dunno...we’ve never tried that route ourselves), or move in with equal or greater arrogance to keep the beer in check. Good luck whichever approach you choose. You will need it.
If you are into lighter beers, don't waste your money on Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale ... it ain't gonna be for you.
