Lost Abbey Red Poppy Ale Vintage 2013 – awesome sour beer - Lost Abbey Red Poppy Ale is a sense-ational sour beer that should not be missed... if you can afford it... most people cannot. However, if you are one of the fortunate ones, gather some friends together and enjoy this one as soon as possible!
What a treat! Pour Red Poppy into a beer glass and you’ll see this beer is different; its dried blood-amber color lets you know right away that there were sour cherries involved in the making of this brew! This is an amazing Flanders style brown ale with a huge dose of sour cherries and an monumental collision of aromas and flavors. A funky, earthy aroma, with lots of vinous dark fruit, attacks the nose, as well as oak tannins and musty barnyard notes. The aroma of Lost Abbey Brewing Company Red Poppy Ale is fabulous, and the taste follows suit, making your cheeks pucker-in-delight with the very first sip. The carbonation is huge which only adds to the delight of this sour beer.
Red Poppy has a 5.5% ABV and is available in 375ml corked and caged bottles here at Beer on the Wall. Brewed from a brown ale base and aged in Lost Abbey’s oak barrels for over 6 months, Lost Abbey Red Poppy Ale is fantastic!
