This stout is pitch-blackness coffee heaven!
Cappuccino Stout, brewed by Lagunitas Brewery, is a big, dark and scary imperial style stout with an ABV of 8.8% and brewed with loads of Sebastopol Hardcore Coffee. If you're a fan of black coffee and a fan of beer…then this guy is going to be right up your alley!
Pour this liquid treasure and you'll find a tan head with plenty of lace lingering on the glass. There are soft espresso notes with hints of blood orange, blackberry, creamy vanilla and chocolate. This solid stout is brewed with plenty of dark malts and it's got lots of great local coffee added; bringing out even bigger roasty flavors and a nice big krunk kick in the pants!
Up until the Summer of 2010 the guys at Lagunitas had called their Cappuccino Stout their beer-version of a Cup O’ Joe. But then the “coffee + beer = good” talk on beer labels got nixed and was deemed “inappropriate” by some angry alcohol-rule-making-muck-e-muck. Too bad for him! The coffee is delicious, the ale is delicious and together they are not worse than the sum of their individual deliciousness.
