Alaskan Amber Ale, by the Alaskan Brewing Company, is one of the most popular microbrews we carry in our beer store. The flavor of this popular beer is rich, malty and long on the palate. Just enough hop backing makes this beautiful amber colored "alt" style beer notably well balanced.
This ale is an "Alt" style beer, the German word "alt" means "old" and refers to the aging that alts undergo; fermenting more slowly and at colder temperatures than other ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.
Alaskan Amber is based on a recipe from a turn-of-the-century brewery in the Juneau area. It was voted "Best Beer in the Nation" in the 1988 Great American Beer Festival Consumer Poll.
Alaskan Amber Ale is great with a variety of foods including King or Silver salmon, flavorful meats and hearty Italian dishes. And, of course, this brew is perfect with pizza!
A 6-pack of Alaskan Amber Ale, along with a few Alaskan Brewing beer glasses, makes a perfect beer gift for both first-time microbrew drinkers as well as seasoned beer connoisseurs.
