Old Rasputin is an extremely rich and robust stout created by the North Coast Brewing Company. A tribute to English beer making, this brew is phenomenal!
This is an intense craft beer with a robust palate, a fruity nose and a warming alcohol finish. And did we mention that this was a dark beer? It is dark, dark, dark. So rich and intense is Old Rasputin, that it literally pours black into a beer glass; a color that will make stout-lovers tingle with anticipation of the coming flavors.
And as with its color the taste does not disappoint either. Very complex and flavorful, you'll want to consume this beer heartily and with great gusto. But beware, Old Rasputin needs to be given some well-deserved respect. If you are new to stouts, approach Old Rasputin with caution. While enjoying, don’t turn your back on this one because if you’re not careful Old Rasputin will literally kick your butt with its 9% ABV! And if you are a seasoned stout drinker, embrace this North Coast beer for what it is, completely awesome!
The name, Russian Imperial Stout, would suggest that this is a brew created by the Russians; however, Old Rasputin is modern craft beer that pays tribute to the 18th century English brewers who created a dark beer for Catherine the Great and the Russian Imperial Court. Because of its popularity this big and intense English beer was soon being exported, with great regularity, from England to Russia.
North Coast’s Old Rasputin pays tribute to a tradition of old English beer making. And as Catherine the Great and her Russian comrades enjoyed the original 18th century brew, we hope you too will enjoy North Coast Brewing Company’s Old Rasputin, a thoroughly enjoyable Russian Imperial Stout.
